The Nigerian Voices Book

I’ve just completed my first book whilst working at Nonconform. ‘The Nigerian Voices’ is a unique publication that takes you on a journey, sharing the voices of Nigerians who decided to leave their country of birth from the 1960’s onwards, and settle in the city of Bradford. The project addresses the need to record the unique experiences of elderly members of the Nigerian community, capturing their cultural heritage and their experiences, uncovering a previously untold history of migration. This book will aim to positively inform and influence attitudes of future generations and the wider community by encouraging a greater understanding of different cultures. The Nigerian Voices project was led by former NCAB member and chair of NLN Ayo Bakare, and a committed group of volunteers from Nigerian Community Association Bradford (NCAB).
